Hello again. Still procrastinating. I can definitely say that this web site is not helping my cause at all. Anyway the International was good fun last night. The crowd were low energy but that can be nice. Was on Red Fm again as well. It had been a while and I would not like my Cork posse to think that I had forgotten about them. They are definitely the most loyal and most passionate of my fans. Anyway here are some pictures from the festivities last night. And don't complain about the Red eye. When I try to take it out everyone ends up with black rings around there eyes. Would you rather have red eye or look like you are strung out on Crystal Meth Amphetamine.
First of all here is a picture of a great sport. This is an English couple who really got involved at the end and I could tell he really had a good time. He was only here a day and he was complaining about Traffic. Talking about settling in quickly.

The next two are of the crowd which refused to at least pretend to be excited. One time they kind of did but that picture came out crap. So here is the very relaxed stage left hand side of the crowd

And now here are the over relaxed right hand side who never even made an effort. See can you spot the actuary who got a million points on his leaving with his self proclaimed "Bitch". Good sports as well faor play to them

So then I had to take a picture of the people we had sitting on the stage as they had been so well behaved. Though I don't want to point out anyone but someone tried to attack me with a bottle of Bulmers. I don't blame her I blame the product

And finally just to keep with the vibe of the evening here is a picture of me taken by a member of the crowd. I am completely uninterested as you can see

But really I had a great time. And I think everyone else did as well. I will be back to do a quick ten minutes on Saturday or maybe MC and run with 4 acts. Thanks to all those who support the International. Thanks to all those who support comedy all over the Country.

AAAARRRRGGGHHH the frustration of my procrastination in this life. I feel I have wasted the week. I sit amongst my half cleaned room full of bags and more mess from looking for things I had put away yesterday and realise my life is completely unmanageable. I have been organising receipts and things all day and it took me so much longer than I thought. Plus I could not find my keys so i was locked in all day. I went out once to get some bread and I jammed the main door to the apartment complex so I could get back in. I feel like a total mess. I have not done a bit of exercise all week. After all this time at home though I have still not organised everything. All the I still have laundry up the wazoo cables everywhere and all the insurance crap for the car to sort out.
I just wanted to have everything organised before going away but it does not seem to have been accomplished. i am still supposed to make sure LEO has a job to come back to in Dublin when he returns from China as he is not going back to Waterford.
Like an idiot I said I would do Live Line tomorrow about all these foolish MEPs who have been running up expenses in Strausbourg. Only for Dana has been at it I would have said no but once again I have been sucked in by the allure of my obsession with Dana. How can one hate one so much yet always think about her. I have dreams of kissing her outside a family planning clinic with the power To Change choir singing Ozzy Osbourne songs in the background. I see these images and I say YES RTE I will once again do your Live Line Programme to push forward truth in a funny way to Middle Ireland.
But the reality hits.
There is no Choir
No Family Planning Clinic
Dana Won't take a phone call anyway
And once again it will just be me and Brush Sheils egged on by the gentle laughter of Irelands only super hero
JJJOOOOEEEE DDDDUUUUUFFFFYYY
The Live Line to the overactive part of my brain is open. All self obsessive thoughts be sure to call. We will be back after this blogging break
If you see me running down Dame St. Don't worry I am running away from myself. See you at the International

Another day over and my room is only half clean. I have 2 and a half rubbish bags of close for some homeless shelter and I threw out 2 full bags of rubbish. I have one full sports bag of reciepts to bring to the accountant and three boxes full of books I will never read. I do not have enough room for this crap. Anyway it feels good to have some of it done.
I got my Visa totally done today. Its in the passport now and everything. Have to sort out the car stuff tomorrow that I have been putting off for a month. Got a ticket 2 days ago for no tax. After tomorrow though everything is done. When I leave for China I will feel like a chapter is complete in my life. I will be woalking away from constant connections to the documentary since November 2002 when it all began. When I come back from China I will be starting on a new chapter. (With the unfortunate blip of having to do an Edinburgh show about the documentary) Still though at least I will have had a break from it.
Did the Dave Fanning Show. Good fun. Talking about womans magazines. I don't know anything about them really but i would not be sticking up for their existance after reading 8 of them in a 24 hour period. A quick synopsis would be that they represent everything that is wrong woth a consumer society. Not many people text in to stick up for them which I thought was great. I enjoyed talking about it as well plus the pictures were nice. The editor of U was on and she was pushing the fact that U was anti eveything we were criticising which is of course bullshit.
Anyway hope those that were listening came to the site. If you did welcome. we have a nice little group of people involved now so Check out the Forum or sign the guest book. Bye for Now

Well I have my visa sorted out for China and it is less than a week till I go now. Really starting to look forward to it. I feel the net is killing me though. if I try to keep up with the forum I lose two hours of my life. I am definitely going to start to clean my room today. I think the Cat laughs program comes out next week so I should have some dates for those that are interested next week. I am in Carlow on June 16th but I am not sure of the Venue.
Other than that not much going on. On Dave Fanning tomorrow as I was saying on the forum. Have to review womans magazines. Not interesting to me but should be funny. Should have the picture gallery up by tomorrow. Going to leave you with some memories from one of the greatest matches I have ever been to in my life. Both Pictures were take when there were still high hopes for Munster to finally do it. There are no pictures from after as I was too depressed to take any more.
The first is of myself and the cousins from Cork. We had to part after this as I could not get a ticket for the North Terrace. I did not take it so don't blame me for the sun

The second is of the team warming up. I really thought this was going to be their day at this stage.

Good evening all. I have just returned from watching capturing the Friedmans. Amazing documentary. Very disturbing. I grew up near the village of Great Neck and it is very eery to think how close it all is to you but more than that how much denial there is. Even throughout the film I went through doubts myself about who had done what. All the conflicting stories. I will not give it away but it made me realise how unreliable the human mind is. It so often just tells you what you or others want to hear.
This morning I spoke in a school here in Dublin to a bunch of 5th years. it was actually very interesting for me and quite enjoyable as they were a nice bunch of guys. Now this school was one of the affluent ones. It is amazing the resources they have but more interestingly the initiative the students showed to get me in. It had nothing to do with the teachers. It just shows what a good atmosphere can produce. The teacher had told them all to write business letters to anyone they wanted to see if they could get a response. My resonse was a success for one student but more amazingly Hugh Heffner responded to one of the others with a nice reply. Pretty groundbreaking teaching if you ask me.
Now I know it is a cliche but they looked so small in there. It is amazing how things like that can really bring home the reality that you are now getting old. One day I will die that is for sure but I hate being around those who odds on are going to outlive me. I feel like they have one up on me.
That was my day really. Unfortuntely I have had a bad stomach all day from eating too much Alpen over the last week. My trips to the toilet have been many. I am sure you do not want to know too much about that.

Well both shows went well this evening though I was not able to make it down to the international in the end. Neil Delamere did a rocking support slot out in Lucan and it is a fact that his days of doing supports are really over. But I am sure he was happy to be supporting hardly. Ardal was great though I don't think he was too happy. He has very high standards for himself and I have to say I have huge respect for him and his comedy. He is a lovely person as well and I am very grateful he did the gig for us.
So a great night. I hope some people from out in Lucan will let us know what they think of it all out there. I think it is going very well.
Anyway came back into town after to see how the International went and then loads of us went to The Good World which is a Chinese restaurant. Serves until late and is a good late night alternative to the pub. Though I think the best late night alternative to the pub is walking around town and looking at the smokers. Have to clean my room tomorrow. Please help me. Here are 2 more pics for the craic

I am going to get rid of one old big picture but I will replace it with this one. Which is me and the 2 bros in Galway
So this is really just a test to see if I have sorted the size of the pictures problem. I think I will take the other huge ones off and put a page up on the site with pictures I collect from around the country. Anyway this is the state of my room as a result of 2 months of neglect while on tour.

Unfortunately that is only part of it. I would be depressed about it accept I am so delighted that I have solved the big picture problem. Therefore I will have loads more pictures from tonights gig in Lucan and from the International. Going to play tennis now so i will see you later. By the way i am crap at tennis and am in fact going for a lesson from my friend

Well its Friday morning and excluding a small show in Lisburn Co. Antrim next week my tour is complete. I must say I am happy and I feel like I a holidays now. I know many of you will probably be thinking that all the surfing and travelling seems like a holiday but in fact I am totally exhausted from it.
So Sligo went great and without a doubt they love getting involved on the Website which is great. There was a whole load of young girlies there and they were great fun afterwards. Just to let you know some of them left messages on my car and I can tell you that the 16 year olds of Sligo are not that innocent. As for the 12 year olds that sit in the front row well fair play to them. I see someone claiming to be the 12 year old posted on the guest book. Hope it is her and glad you enjoyed it. Here are the Wacky Gigglies

So that was Sligo. We went surfing the next day and I bought a new roof rack for the car which was a mistake because it was cabbaging PJ's head. And we were in a ruch to get in the water as we had a seaweed bath booked for 3 pm.

I have some pictures from the International as well but I will hold off on them. SO for now I guess I willl say it is great to be back in my flat for a few days in a row. Glad to say the mommy generating so much interest. Hope to see the daddy on soon. I will finish with pictures from the crowd in Sligo. Which they have probably forgotten were quite somber as they would not perform for the camera
Ok and one more crowd picture and then I am going to figure out how to shrink them.

Well the showcase went great last night. I got a great sense of pride about the state of Irish comedy and in fact I am listening to today FM at the moment and they are raving about the evening. I am going to post some pics from the crowd. If anyone wants to post in the forum about how to make theses smaller before they go in let me know. I am off to sligo now so i hope to get some more pictures. If you were there let me know on the forum.

I just want everyone to go and read my cousinsBrian's post in the guest book. Now to an Irish person not paying attention it probably does not seem funny but I can assure you firemen from Queens don't normally speak in such a manner. Thanks for that Bri I got a good giggle.
Anyway it is late. Nearly fell asleep on the Motorway while driving back from Kilkenny. So I pulled over to have a nap. However I could not sleep as I always have this feeling that no matter how out of the way I am someone is going to come up and murder me or at least scare the shit out of me tapping on the window or something. Plus the hazards were really annoying but I thought if I turned them off some truck doing 80 miles an hour would rear end me to oblivion. How could you sleep with such fears in your head.
I made it back safe and now for some reason I am wide awake. Just watched the New York Mets beat the Expos at Shea on MLB TV. I am living that though I would say most of you don't care about baseball. I would say alot of you would not have known what I was talking about had I not said baseball either. It is one of the things I hold onto strongly I must say.
So goodnight to you all. It is after 3 now. Good show tonight by the way in Cleeres. Worth doing the extra one in the end.

Greetings from an internet cafe on the quays in Dublin. I have just finished the Phil Cauley show on today fm and had a quick meeting with the web designers. I think all is going well. Just drove up this morning from Kilkenny and I am just about to drive back. Thought I would get a blog in before I do because I know I will be too tired later. Going to drive back again tonight. Anyway I forgot to plug the site so I hope Phil did. They surprised me with a request to do Jump Around by the house of pain. I have done it at the festival club in Kilkenny and I guess someone told them. Anyway I hope I was not too much of a tool. The things I do for publicity.
My poor mother rang me all worried yesterday after my blog about the bottle incident. I put her mind at ease But I have discovered that she is tracking me through the website. On the flip side I think she loves it. She was at me the other day when I had not posted for 2 days. With that kind of pressure it becomes like home work. OK MA I WILL DO IT AFTER I FINISH PLAYING.
Just kidding. I wish the mother would start posting in the forum as I am sure she would have something to say to some of those mad girls posting things about me.
Anyway I must get on the road. Welcome to any new heads today as I reckon there will be from the radio. Enjoy it. Goodbye to my mother and Hello to Amy Walsh my favourite cousin who has been to the guest book. Se ya in July. Can't wait.

Hey my brother just called me there and told me how the International went last night. Packed and with a very special treat. Ardal O'Hanlon had rang me to do a quick 10 minutes and it went great. He is getting some stuff ready for a big gig in the UK. I think its great when guys like him come down because it gets people talking about the club. Just for a treat so for the pioneers of the website I will let you know that Ardal will be down next Thursday as well. But to see a full Ardal show he is performing at the Stand out comedy club in Lucan next Saturday. Its at the County Bar of the Lucan Spa hotel.
I can't imagine what the phone bill is going to be like when I check out. I have been on the hotel phone the whole time. Ahh well thats boredom for you.

Good Afternoon my Irish Friends and Good Morning to the Army of New Yorkers my mother has been whipping up. A lovely Sunday afternoon here in Kilkenny. The River Nore flows below my window and the birds are singing in high Spirits. What a tranquil scene. What a contrast to last night. I had another of those lovely Irish nights where only drunkeness and mayhem happen around me. I won't moan as many are sick of it but I will tell you that while I was in a particular late bar in the city here a man who seemed to get a little pissed off I was around smashed a bottle on the table and started telling me to fuck off. Then he kept going to grab the bottle and then having second thoughts and going back to the verbals. In the end he ran off. Whatever, nothing happened in the end. But I could not help looking at the scenes around me as I walked back to the hotel of sloppiness with a critical eye once again. I have come to the conclusion that if you do not drink in this country there is really no place for you in a social setting after midnight.
On a lighter note. I love the smoking ban. I am a huge fan but I have a major problem with the odors. I know everyone is going on about it but as I have now gone out two nights in a row I am starting to notice that it is a real problem. Night clubs and pubs stink. It is amazing how much the smoke was hiding. The farting is now out of hand. I love a good fart but every 5 seconds you can smell farts in clubs now. It is disgusting. The BO is worse on the dance floor. I could not imagine what Sir Henrys would have been like during the smoking ban. Thank god that place is closed down.
I think we need a new ethic to come into the social way of being and that is that you must go to the toilet to have a fart and wait a minute before you come back out. You won't have to queue or anything just walk in drop one and give a little wink of relief to the various people in the room who will be doing the same thing.
My message to the Pub owners is that it is now time to burn essential oils or something. Spill a bottle of olbas oil or something because Puke just don't do it for me as an odor and that was a huge presence in my night last night.
Maybe I am just getting old. There were a bunch of 17 year old lads at the gig last night and they had never heard of soundings the poetry book. I am finding it hard to believe that there are people coming to my show that are from the next generation. Yikes.

Greetings from Kilkenny. Another Hotel, another Missed Breakfast and another T shirt washed in the bath. I am gigging in Cleeres which only fits about 90 people so we have now put on a 4rth night on Monday night. I can't help but wish that we had booked a bigger venue but we had booked this before the documentary came out. But I like this city so its not the worse and I am in better spirits than yesterday. However the music from the pub next door is so loud that I have to draw reference to it every now and then as I can tell people are like tapping their feet to songs they like. Its quite weird to be in venue this small other than the International. The opera house in Cork to this is a big switch. I like it but it is harder not to mess around with the Audience. Last night turned into a bit of a questions and answers session. It was fun but I thought the show would never finish. On top of that the posters said 8:30 but the tickets said 9:30 so we did not start till 9:40. Looks like there is going to be some late ones a coming.
On a funnier note I went to Kilkennys VIP bar last night. It was mostly rich farmers in Check shirts. It appears that the uniform of men in this town is Check shirts. I have not seen as many in one place in a long time. Probably since I worked in Superquinn. So i am going for lunch now and also going shopping for a usb cable so I can get some pictures into this damn thing. Have some of the brothers and of me and PJ surfing that I need to get on here. Talk later

Talk later

Hola
Just a quick note to say that it is Friday morning and my spirits are a little low. The brother leaves tomorrow and I am going away again for 3 days. Now I have no problem with Kilkenny but I am sick of being away. I am also sick of driving though so I am not going to drive up and down every day. I would say you will be seeing alot of updates on this thing over the next few days. I know I will be bored down there after a day. Looking forward to the shows as it is a great venue in Cleeres but not looking forward to passing time.
Hope any Kilkenny people that check out the site are seeing this and figuring something out for me to do. You can post on the Forum if you have any schemes. I know now that we have the Forum that I probably could diary it up on there. But I like this place as well. Talk to you later

Well I am so sorry I have been so bad at updating. I have been up North and would you believe there is no Internet Cafe in Portrush. I must let you know that Portrush is a funny old town. For those that don't know Portrush is in Northern Ireland. We stayed at a lovely BandB that had pictures of the Queen and her Jubilee memorabilia all over the place. Sammy who was the boss man there was a lovely guy but the whole towm was a bit weird. Alot of amusements and stressed out parents. Great surf though. I fact I was up at 5:30 this morning and out in the water by 6:30. Add on a 3 and a half hour drive and a gig this evening and I think you will agree I deserve to be shattered.
So the Great News is that the Stand Out Comedy Club has had its first night in Lucan. It was a major success. I went on last and there were no negative vibes. Hope people are going to come to the other shows we have put on. Ardal O'Hanlon is on Sat the 24th so that should be good. I was great to get the thing up and running and see if the idea is going to work.
Anyway that is the end now as I am in fact falling a sleep as I write. I am sorry that some people have been waiting for this blog. zzzzzzzz

Hey folks. I woke up way too late today and I have a million things to do. I have to drive up to Belfast as Aidan has a gig in the Empire tonight. It is his first time and for those that don't know it is feared by most comedians as it is a bear pit of a comedy club. I hope he does well but if he doesn't I can give him the list of very famous comedians who have died on their hole there.
I have a show on In Lucan on Thursday which is stressing me out because it is part of a new series of shows we are getting together in Suburban venues. The Tickets are going ok but I have to organise the PA and all the crap too. So I have to do all that before I head to Belfast. The brothers are waiting to be picked up and I still have to send out the E mail for the International which is also on Thursday. I am officially Like Starbucks now as I am eating in on myself. It is great to be competing against myself.
Had a lovely weekend though. My lovely girlfriend was home from London and we had a great time. She went back this morning so that was a downer. But thats the long distancers for you. So now the have the real excuse as to why I was so poor at updating the Blog. Sorry.
Going to try and get a forum up and running this week. I have some hints from the good people at

Which is my favourite site to chat on. Anyway talk to you from Belfast later.

Hi guys I am sorry I have not been on in a few days. Enjoying the Easter and all that. Had a wild show in Tipperary on Saturday night. Most of the crowd were under 18 and female. Very strange crowd to please. It was fun though but I nearly collapsed when I asked these two kids what age they were and they told me they were 12. They were there with their uncle. Success brings some weird things I can tell you.
I censored my act accordingly and it was all good in the end. Galway went well too and I am now getting sad that the tour is coming to an end now. Going to China for the month of may to visit some of the Chinese from Abrakebabra. I cut my finger yesterday and it is really making typing difficult so I will type more later when I get a plaster.

Hey just a quickie before I head to Galway. Really enjoying the comments int he guest book. I must get one of those forums as I think the guest book only takes a few lines. Anyway was back in the International last night and it was a great show. It is the best place in the world for comedy without a doubt. All the brothers were there and that made it even better. Aidan had a great gig and I know the visiting brother was well impressed. Now the reports will go back to the states that he has done well over here and although it is a selfish thought I know it will reflect well on me. If you checked out the guest book you wil see that my Aunt and Uncle signed it. This web thing is turning out to be a great little resource. So big Hello to Aunt Mary and Uncle Sal. Miss you both and looking forward to the wedding in July.
I am going to give my mother a password to write on this blog once a week as I think she will have some funny things to say. Plus there are a million blogs out there so you light as well make it a little unique.
Heading west now for a gig in the Town Hall. No surf whatsoever unfortunately. Was going to head to Lahinch tomorrow as I have a gig in Tipperary Town tomorrow night. But I just checked on the Web there and there is not a thing happening.

So you know I ain't lying. I love this website thing. I am really getting a kick out of it. I think comedy is definitely too lonely a job. Or maybe I prefer being friends with a huge group of people I don't know than a few who might actually tell me I have no life.

What a most interesting moment I have just had googling myself. Now before I get into it let me tell you that it is not as sad as it sounds to google yourself and I have often found out about gigs I am doing that way. Anyway I found two interesting things I had never seen before. One is a review of the TV programme in a local Carlow Newspaper. Check it out on
http://www.carlow-nationalist.ie/news/printer.asp?j=19815
But even more interestingly though I was shocked to find myself mentioned on the young Fine Gael site for the University of Limerick. As i have no affiliation with Fine Gael nor any political party and as I had no recollection of doing anything for some young weirdos that feel inclined toward becoming involved in something as boring as Fine Gael at such a young age, I was shocked. I have not been able to save the picture as it is in a funny file so I will give you the Link and you can have a look at their humour. Maybe later on I will tell you why I was there. Really it is a boring story but I might as well leave a cliff hanger.
By the way if you did not notice the GUEST BOOK is up and running so would be nice to know who has been tuning in over the last 2 weeks.

Hey guys just a quick note before going to bed. Don't ever use sprint if you live in the United States. I got my parents two mobiles (cell phones) for christmas and they have had nothing but problems. Man if we think esat or vodaphone have a messed up service you should try dealing with the nonsense you have to deal with in the US. It took us two months just to cancel the thing and the whole time the bills were adding up. On top of that you have to pay a cancellation fee which is understandable as it is part of the contract but not when you have just paid for 2 months service you never used. I wish America was as uncaring about credit history as Ireland is. This thing hangs over your head that you can't mess around because you will get bad credit. It is so frustrating as I know if this happened in Ireland I could just ring Joe Duffy. You can really take Joe for granted till you end up in a situation like this. Who is the Joe Duffy of America I wonder. Anyway we will have a guest book up and running from tomorrow or Friday at the latest so if you are dying to be a part of it all then you will have your chance. I am delighted as I can't wait to here from all the haters as they always outnumber the lovers.

Well I am back in the big smoke. Well Dublin anyway. I am now using my new I book which is pretty interesting. I have just been attacked by so many viruses lately I decided I would give apple a go. I was going to get a power book just to think I was important but I never do anything big on a computer. I just get this thing in my head that to be anybody important in the creative world you have to have a power book.
Great day surfing yesterday. Great waves and lovely sun at regular intervals. Clear water and the Blasket Islands in the background. (Abandoned in 1953 for the interested of you) Long drive back to Dublin that was broken up nicely by Chelsea getting into the semi final of the Champions league. We stopped at this great pub called the Coopers in Birdhill Co. Tipperary. The bar woman had no food so she went into the house and made us sandwiches. Great Day.
Have to go through all my old mini discs now to get some audion downloads on the sight. Took some pictures of surfing but i can't find the USB cable for my little camera. Get that asap.
My Brother Mike comes over tomorrow which I am very much looking forward to. Have not seen him since Christmas. So for those in Galway we are hitting the town heavy on Friday night. Now I know you can't actually do that on Good friday so I guess we will just be hanging out in the Town Hall after the show. But we have to have a good one because I have to let the brother think that we are living the good life over here.
(for those who don't know Good Friday is one of 2 days in Ireland where the pubs are not allowed to open. As a result everyone drinks twice as much at home because they are not meant to which makes it much more enjoyable)

Well just a quickie to say I am in an internet cafe in Tralee Co. Kerry. Not a great day weather wise and the wind is bad for the surf today. It is my first day off in a while so I am going to go down to dingle anyway. Might try to get a ticket to Playboy of the Western World in Dunquin even though I know it is sold out. Gig in Tralee went well last night but I was tired after the Weekend and the 5 hour drive down. Good to see some of the old Aqua Dome heads. Unfortunately the Kids who my show is based in did not turn up. I wanted to APOLOGISE!!!!!

Yawn, Yawn, Yawn.
I have not been able to sleep in this morning as I drank one too many red bulls last night. However it was a great Weekend in Vicar St and thanks to those who were there. I am wrecked now and I have to drive to Tralee in a few hours which is a least a four hour drive.
I must tell you. On Friday night at the show this mad woman from Cork went crazy when I came out for an encore saying she had been to see me 7 times and it was all the same stuff. She was calling me a Langer and at first I thought it was a joke but then she went mental. The crowd roared for her to go and when the bouncers took her out she attacked them. It was absolutely wild. The power of the crowd was ferocious. I was nearly scared of them but more it was exilirating. They all sang Cheerio unprompted by me and I don't think you would get a better power in Old Trafford. Now don't get me wrong I don't like having people thrown out but she was truelly out of control. Whats even weirder is I have only been doing this new show for 2 months now so whe must have been to alot of gigs lately. Plus she drove all the way from Cork for this one.
Play Misty For Me
Anyway I got some pictures of the crowd and I hope the people who gave me the camera will e mail them so I can put them up. Have a lovely Sunday and think of me tomorrow as I will be surfing on the Dingle Peninsula.

Thought this was funny. Went looking for an image to add to the story. Used Google picture, put in Des Bishop and this came up

Just to let you know I had posted the following entry before we started using this site so I will just paste it below. Its a few days old.....
Well first of all I would like to welcome you all to my website and my blog situation. I will be trying to keep you posted regularly of my situation, as it appears that this is an extremely popular thing to do on the net. I am almost sure the first one is the hardest to do so I think I will tell you about how we came to get desbishop.com. In fact I will even include the e-mail as the story unfolds.
Well many of you will know that the Work Experience programmes went very well. I thought that I had missed a big opportunity through not having a web site and not being able to use the huge amount of publicity to push the site. As a result it was a matter of huge importance that I get one. I then worried that I might have left it too late to get something as convenient as desbishop.com. I was right. Someone had taken it. I was pissed off at myself as many times I had the registration site in front of me and then thought I would do it another time.
Anyway I checked who had registered it and it turned out it was in New York……
Could it be someone I bullied at school getting revenge……
Could it be someone who bullied me still trying to bully me……
Could it be my mother still trying to organize everything for me but forgetting to tell me….
Or as we would all assume was it someone trying to make a quick buck……
Well I will now paste the following e-mail corresponances without to Addresses to protect the innocent and the guilty.
Des: Hi,
I was just curious to know what need you have for desbishop.com. Would appreciate you getting back to me.
Des
Rob: I was trying to look up ways to get a copy of your show in Ireland and got switched to a company that gave me access to buy your name for a web site and I just went ahead and purchased it. I live in New York and was in Ireland at the end of January. I am a NYC Fireman I am not looking to keep the web address for any purpose but would really like to get a hold of a tape of your show(s), when you went around Ireland working for the minimum wage. It was probably one of the funniest shows I ever saw. I have had no luck with RTE they never respond to my emails. So let me know what you want me to do and I will transfer it over to you. Didn't mean to cause you any bother. That show was one of the funniest shows I have ever saw.
Rob
Des: Hey man that is great news. I can get you a copy of the whole series. My brother is coming over here for Easter so if you don't mind waiting I can send him home with the copies. That will be mid April. The only thing is they will be on the Irish Video think but I will see what I can do about getting that changed over.
We have alot of Fireman in our family so it is a delight to get these for you. As far as the web address I will find out what to do there. No sweat.
Thanks for the reply and glad you liked the show.
Des Bishop
Rob: That would be great to get a hold of the series. I've told a bunch of guys at the firehouse who are Irish American about how funny the show was so it would be great to play at work. Let me know what you want me to do as far as changing it over to you. It was strange how I got prompted to buy it. My main goal was trying to get a copy of the show.
My information

Des: Thanks
I will find out what to do and let you know. Going away for a couple of days so probably won't find out till Monday. Out of interest where is your firehouse

Well its a wet Thursday evening here in Dublin. Thursdays are always a mad one for me as I have a gig on a Thursday no matter what I do. I have been running the gig in The International bar for 6 years now. I am going to go down there tonight as I want to try out some ideas before the gig in Vicar St.
My day started off weird because a journalist from the Irish Independent asked me how I felt as an american to see the bodies of Americans torn apart in Fallujah. He is quite right wing and insinuated that the people who did it were savages. No doubt they were but it does not make me hate the world of Islam. Nor does it make me think that these people hate civilisation. I don't think America is really trying to bring civilisation there either. Its all spin.
So I told him that as an American it did not affect me in a different way than had they been from anywhere. What I did think was that as a race humans like to think we are more evolved than we really are. This is the second time in 10 years that we have seen this kind of thing done to Americans. The world is savage and angry. America is savage and confident. Everybody loves to knock the cocky ones. Its just that this macho game has stakes that are too high.
I know that is a little more serious than yesterday but now I am free to be funny for the rest of the night now that I am free.
